For sustainability & social change professionals

Do good with joy, and without burning out.

If you care deeply about making a difference, but you're quietly running on less than you need and the voice in your head keeps telling you it's still not enough, this is for you.

You got into sustainability or social change because something in you said "this matters", and it does. But somewhere along the way, work that once felt purposeful started to feel heavy.

The irony is that the people who care most about changing the world are often the ones least able to extend that care to themselves.

There's a voice that follows you into evenings, weekends and holidays, keeping a running tally of everything you didn't get to. It's rarely satisfied, and it sounds a lot like you.

So you say yes when you mean no, you struggle to switch off, and you end up so buried in the urgent that the important never gets done.

I know this because I've lived it. For as long as I can remember, two things have shaped my life: a deep hunger to do work that matters, and a harsh inner critic telling me I'm not doing it well enough.

The qualities that make you good at this work can quietly work against you.

What I've noticed, after fifteen years working alongside sustainability, social change and mission-led organisations, is that caring deeply, being driven to do the right thing and feeling the urgency of it are often the same qualities working against people in the background.

The care becomes self-pressure, the dedication becomes an inability to rest, and the sense of responsibility means that saying no or asking for support can feel like letting the side down.

I believe that treating ourselves with respect and compassion is where the work of creating a better tomorrow begins. Inner balance and joy aren't luxuries; they're the foundation everything else is built on, and people do their best work when they feel grounded, celebrated and genuinely seen.

Here's how I can help: three ways to keep making a difference with more joy, and without doing it alone.

Three ways in, whichever fits where you're at:

What members say

"The C:MC has a quiet way of bringing you back to yourself - making you feel human again in a world that often pulls you out of shape. It's a safe space where vulnerability feels less like a risk and more like a relief. Joey and Sol guide with humility, tending the community like gardeners so each of us can grow at our own pace. Personally, I value being in the group spaces because it doesn't feel forced or performative. There's power in witnessing others work through their blocks – you absorb courage by proximity. It creates that gentle "if they can try, maybe I can too" energy, without ever feeling like something is wrong with you for not being there yet."

Marc Convey

"One of the main things I was looking for was a like‑minded group of people. Folks who care about doing something meaningful, but who are also honest enough to say, "I'm struggling a bit here." The space feels very real. No one's pretending to have it all sorted, and there's no pressure to perform. You can show up as you are, be heard, and leave feeling a bit clearer, lighter and more connected. I like the mix: there's time to get stuff done and move things forward, and there's also time to slow down and check in with yourself. It's not all hustle, and it's not all navel‑gazing either. Joey and Sol are truly special humans – their ability to hold space, build community, and champion you is unmatched. They gather an inspiring crew of changemakers who lift each other up and make the Collective feel like home. It's the perfect space to be heard, supported, energised, and to actually get things done. Honestly, it's amazing what unfolds in just an hour with them."

Jay Lucas

"Change:Maker Collective has become an anchor point for me – a place to connect with thoughtful like minds, even when our work is radically different. It's rare to find a space that holds both vulnerability and momentum: where you can slow down, share half-formed ideas, and feel truly supported. It's given me perspective, clarity, and the confidence to move forward before I'm 'ready'. I joined out of curiosity; now I'd be lost without it."

"Joey & Sol complement each other beautifully in the magic they bring to a really special community of changemakers - a joy to be a member of & spend time with"
